GREENVILLE —
One person was reported to have been critically injured early Wednesday morning in a stabbing incident in northwest Hunt County.
Deputies with the Hunt County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the intersection of FM 36 and Hunt County Road 1125 in the Merit area at around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday on a call of an unidentified female wearing all black lying in the ditch. Upon arrival, deputies discovered that the female had been stabbed and a silver handle knife was protruding from the right side of her abdomen.
Hunt County Sheriff Randy Meeks said the victim was identified as Katie Marie Izzo, 31. No address was immediately available for Izzo, who was transported in critical condition by air ambulance to Medical City Hospital in Plano.
“The Criminal Investigation Division of the Hunt County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating this as an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon,” Meeks said. “We still don’t know all the details to the stabbing. The victim was unable to give us much information this morning. We are currently looking for a suspect or suspects that are involved in this stabbing. We anticipate an arrest in the near future.”
