GREENVILLE —
Holiday shoppers will soon be greeted by the ringing of bells, a familiar red kettle and trees filled with Christmas wishes from needy area residents.
The Salvation Army of Greenville is starting its annual Red Kettle fundraising drive Wednesday morning.
Lt. Kenny Jones said the event is scheduled at 9 a.m. Wednesday at Brookshire’s Food and Pharmacy, 6410 Wesley Street in Greenville.
The Salvation Army is also in need of volunteers to man the kettles and ring bells during the holidays.
Along with the annual effort to provide local families in need with toys, food and other items for the holiday season, the Salvation Army Angel Tree campaign attempts to match up volunteers who can supply extra special requests for specific young individuals.
Those wanting to volunteer or who may want more information about the Salvation Army can call the agency at 903-455-1875 or visit the organization’s Greenville headquarters at 4601 King Street.
