"Felony Lane Gang" reported in area

GREENVILLE — The Kaufman County Sheriff's Office issued an alert to area residents a short time ago, concerning what appears to be an organized theft ring operating in North Texas:

Forney Texas, - Kaufman County Sheriff’s investigators are advising residents to be especially watchful over their belongs because a state wide notorious gang that targets daycare centers, post offices, churches, as well as funerals and school events are believed to be working the Kaufman County area.

Recent burglaries in Forney and two arrests in the County point toward the strong possibility that members of an organized gang known as the “Felony Lane Gang’ are operating in Forney and surrounding cities throughout Kaufman County. The group steals purses in targeted areas, and then uses stolen identification to cash checks. So far Collin, Dallas and Tarrant County have been hit.

Working together Forney Police Department and the Kaufman County Sheriff’s investigators have recovered five purses stolen from cars burglarized at Day Care Centers on November 14th. Investigators have recovered all of the purses and contents from these burglaries. All property stolen has been returned to its rightful owners.

Investigators are strongly urging residents to take their purses and other property with them and be aware of their surroundings at all times. Residents are also urged not to leave their vehicles unlocked and running, not even for a few minutes. Also, purses or other valuable items should never be left in plain sight in a vehicle. This notorious gang is also known for schemes such as the “Smash and Grab.”  Residents leave valuables in their locked car, but in plain view, where the gang members smash the window and take off with the goods!

Two members from the burglary spree on November 14th have been arrested, with more arrests expected.

This gang hails from areas such as Florida, Illinois, and Tennessee and has over 100 members, with crimes sprees in at least seven other states. 

This case is still under investigation, with more information to be released at a later date.
