Grand jury indicts two for allegedly assaulting officers

GREENVILLE — Two Hunt County residents have been indicted on charges they attacked law enforcement officers in separate incidents earlier this year.

The indictments against Andrew Dewayne Doss and Kevin Dewayne McMillan were among 61 issued Friday by the Hunt County grand jury, including 17 indictments issued sealed pending the arrest of the person or persons named in the charges.

A Greenville resident was also indicted Friday for allegedly injuring another man with a hammer over the summer.

— Doss, 27, who listed a Wills Point mailing address in far south Hunt County, received one indictment for assault against a public servant and one indictment for taking the weapon of a peace officer.

The indictments allege that Doss attacked a Quinlan Police Department officer, and tried to take the stun gun of a Hunt County Sheriff’s deputy, as they were attempting to arrest Doss on October 14.

— McMillan, 33, of Campbell, received one indictment for assault against a public servant and one indictment for injury to an elderly individual. McMillan was alleged in the indictments of attacking a Hunt County Sheriff’s deputy and to have bitten the nose and head of a male victim, on August 16.

— Nathan Daniel Douthit, 20, of Greenville, was indicted on one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Douthit was alleged in the indictment to have used a hammer to cause bodily injury to a male victim on July 24.
