GREENVILLE —
A Lone Oak resident has pleaded not guilty to an indictment alleging he was intoxicated when he caused an accident which seriously injured another man one year ago.
Billy Russell Moore, 51, entered the plea Monday to a charge of intoxication assault during a hearing in the 196th District Court. Judge Steve Tittle accepted the plea and set an interim hearing for March 20.
The indictment was issued sealed by the Hunt County grand jury in January, pending Moore’s arrest and appearance in court. The indictment alleged Moore was driving while intoxicated and caused a male victim to suffer serious bodily injuries in the Feb. 3, 2012 accident.
Intoxication assault is a third degree felony, punishable upon conviction by a maximum sentence of from two to 10 years in prison and an optional fine of up to $10,000.
