GREENVILLE —
Two Quinlan-area residents have been indicted by the Hunt County grand jury for allegedly being in possession of a pipe bomb last fall.
A Greenville man has been charged in connection with a reported armed hold-up and a Tarrant County man was charged with an alleged sport utility vehicle theft which resulted in a chase with several vehicles being damaged.
— Jason Tyler Ellis, 40, and Chandra Taylor, 32, were each indicted Friday on one count of possession of a prohibited weapon. The indictments allege the pair acted together to possess, manufacture or transport an explosive weapon.
Officers from the Hunt County Sheriff’s Office as well as the Greenville and Commerce Police Departments acted together on the morning of October 14, 2011 to serve warrants at three residences in the Easy Living Addition and in the process discovered a pipe bomb in one of the homes.
Seven persons, including Ellis and Taylor, were taken into custody for various criminal charges. More than four ounces of methamphetamine, more than two ounces of marijuana a handful of assault rifles and several handguns were seized, as well as the pipe bomb. The Garland Police Department Bomb Squad was called out and diffused the bomb.
— Eugene Cole, 27, Greenville, was indicted on one count of aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon. Cole was alleged in the indictment to have used a knife to threaten a male victim while in the course of committing a robbery on Nov. 21, 2011.
— Takayus Shamar Tucker, 25, of Arlington, was indicted on one count of unauthorized use of a vehicle. According to a report from the Texas Department of Public Safety, Tucker, who has also listed an address in Cotton Plant, Ark., crashed into several vehicles, starting in Mesquite, before finally crashing the sport utility vehicle he was driving along Interstate 30 on the evening of July 17, 2011.
Tucker was alleged to have stolen a 2009 Toyota Tundra earlier that day in Arlington, had hit a vehicle in Mesquite and failed to stop, continuing eastbound on Interstate 30. Tucker was spotted by a Rockwall Police Department officer a short time later proceeding through the city, but again allegedly failed to stop for the officer.
After reportedly hitting several more vehicles, Tucker was observed by a Rockwall Sheriff’s deputy at the 77-mile marker of eastbound Interstate 30 at 6:44 p.m. Sunday.
Tucker was alleged to be driving erratically during the pursuit and passing vehicles on the shoulder of the highway. After entering Hunt County, Tucker allegedly again tried to pass a vehicle on the shoulder of the interstate at the 83 mile marker, left the roadway, then returned and then ran into the back of a 2004 Lexus. Tucker then struck a guardrail and a utility pole before the Tundra rolled over and came to rest on its hood.
Tucker was transported to Hunt Regional Medical Center in Greenville where he was treated and released and then taken into custody.
