GREENVILLE —
Some local automotive enthusiasts are going to be combining today’s expected beautiful weather conditions, a love of the color green and a sense of nostalgia to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day weekend by hosting a car show at the Greenville SportsPark.
The Wesley Street Cruisers are also planning show off their rides tonight, as they cruise their namesake thoroughfare.
The St. Pat’s Open Hood Car Show is scheduled starting at noon at Aunt Char’s Kidzone in the park, at the corner of Sayle Street and Kari Lane/Leo Hackney Boulevard. There is no admission or registration for the event, a live DJ will be featured and refreshments will be available. Awards will be presented for the best car and best bike at the show.
Starting at 7 p.m., the organization plans on a “Sonic Boom”, by occupying the Sonic Drive-In at 6219 Wesley Street.
The group also organizes the “Wesley Street Cruise Night”, with the fourth annual event scheduled in Greenville during Labor Day weekend. Last year’s Cruise Night, which included the event’s first car show, which drew more than 60 entries to Market Square in downtown Greenville. A separate motorcycle show brought in dozens of classic and custom bikes which also competed for prizes.
