GREENVILLE —
The Caddo Mills Municipal Airport is in line for a state grant to help pay for improvements at the facility.
During its meeting earlier this month, the Texas Transportation Commission approved a grant of approximately $525,000 for the airport, according to an announcement issued Thursday by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT).
The funds are to be used for planned airport improvements, including engineering, design and construction for pavement improvements.
The announcement indicated that a consultant for the project will be selected during the winter.
Project costs are to be funded through TxDOT’s Aviation Facilities Grant Program, which preserves and improves the state’s general aviation system, and the City of Caddo Mills.
According to the announcement, TxDOT expects to provide approximately $60 million in funding for planning, constructing and maintaining community airports this year.
Approximately 275 community airports in Texas are eligible for funding.
