GREENVILLE —
A former local radio personality, who was alleged to have swindled an area charitable organization and a Greenville businessman two years ago, is in trouble with the law again.
Charles Clarence Joslin, 38, was indicted but never prosecuted in 2008 for stealing a check from the late Jack Finney. Joslin, formerly the general manager at KGVL/KIKT, had promised to use the $3,000 to purchase two jukeboxes for Finney, but allegedly kept the money for himself.
Joslin also was alleged to have conducted several remote broadcasts for the station, during which he accepted an estimated $3,000 in donations for the Clothe-A-Child program through the United Way of Hunt County, but never submitted the money to the organization.
At the time of his arrest in May 2008, Joslin also had an outstanding theft warrant out of Waco.
Joslin and another individual were indicted in Hunt County in July 2008 on charges of theft of property of the value of between $1,500 and $20,000 in connection with the allegedly stolen check from Finney, who later signed a non-prosecution affidavit and the indictments were dismissed.
Charges were not pursued in connection with the missing funds from the United Way of Hunt County.
Published reports indicate Joslin, using the name of DJ Chuck Dakota, was arrested in Lubbock this week after being suspected of raising about $26,000 from listeners for two 6-year-old cancer victims whose father was killed in Iraq.
According to the reports, the story was fake and Joslin only took donations in cash.
