To the editor:
We have been planning to write this letter for some time. We saw in yesterday’s paper the new plans for street maintenance. How sad to read no mention of Stonewall Street.
We have been in Greenville since 1966 and have seen very little care for Stonewall Street, especially going south. Can anyone tell us why? It’s in deplorable condition, and it has schools, banks, churches, homes, apartments, etc., on that street.
We shop in Greenville and use Stonewall Street quite a lot, along with many others. It sure would be a great help to have it redone.

I write to support the YMCA bond election from a perspective of the role they provide in the health of our community. As a health care professional, I have long understood and supported the need and development of a comprehensive Health and Wellness Center which could serve not only as a fitness center and playground, but as a cornerstone for building and maintaining healthy bodies and lifestyles.

We would like to say we are in full agreement and support Randy Daw’s article in last Friday’s paper concerning the issue of homosexuality.

A number of Greenville citizens have asked if we can afford a new YMCA. After many years of being a part of the Y, I think the question is, can we afford not to build a new YMCA?

It has come to my attention that Tyson Cox has declined a candidate’s forum with Dan Perkins sponsored by GEUS. The forum was to be broadcast on their network.

I was born and raised in Greenville and have lived here most of my life, except for the two years my husband, Perry M. Smith, was in dental school and the two years he practiced dentistry in West Texas.
