To the editor:
The ghost night, the ghost walks have come to a close. The ghost houses, this is all in “fun.”
I can remember when Halloween was fun for “small children.” The “trick and treaters.” It is now a party for “adults,” a “$6 million” party.
Billy Graham said Halloween is a night for the “devil” to celebrate.
What the people need is the “Holy Ghost.” Why give the devil his special night?
We have come a long way. “Bus tours” through the cemeteries. The local citizens go to the cemetery to look for ghosts, have a “witchcraft party” and talk with the dead.
I have “good news” for the “ghost hunters”; the “grave” is “empty.”
Let the cemetery be a “sacred place” for our loved ones, our family members.
In “respect to the Tom King family,” let Tom King rest in peace at East Mount Cemetery. Show “respect to our loved ones.”

Making a point
I just read Mayor Reid’s letter. I would like to make a point and finish upbeat.
Thanks from Relay For Life
Relay For Life Team Brave would like to recognize Erin Reese Ramsey and John Marten for their generous donations.
Vote for new Y
I write to support the YMCA bond election from a perspective of the role they provide in the health of our community. As a health care professional, I have long understood and supported the need and development of a comprehensive Health and Wellness Center which could serve not only as a fitness center and playground, but as a cornerstone for building and maintaining healthy bodies and lifestyles.
We would like to say we are in full agreement and support Randy Daw’s article in last Friday’s paper concerning the issue of homosexuality.
In support of new Y
A number of Greenville citizens have asked if we can afford a new YMCA. After many years of being a part of the Y, I think the question is, can we afford not to build a new YMCA?
Examine the facts
In response to the editorial published by the Herald-Banner on April 28 stating that the staff believes more time is required before an informed decision can be made on the issuance of public bonds for a new YMCA and Event Center…
Proven for the job
It has come to my attention that Tyson Cox has declined a candidate’s forum with Dan Perkins sponsored by GEUS. The forum was to be broadcast on their network.
Make a difference
I’d like to voice my support for the YMCA and Event Center that is on the ballot as Proposition 2.
Take a step back and imagine what a “better Greenville” looks like to you.
Vote for new Y
My wife, Marilyn, and I want to encourage the citizens of Greenville to vote in support of the YMCA project.
