GREENVILLE —
To the editor:
Just wanted to let everyone back in Greenville that might be on Facebook know that there is a little group that I formed a few months ago called “I Was Raised in Greenville, Texas.” We don’t do politics ... local or otherwise. We talk to old friends who are all over the country and the world. We talk local history. We dig up old memories. We range in age from teenagers to seniors.
Out of boredom, one night, when I was off from work, sick, on short-term disability and unable to sleep, I started this little experiment. I had over 200 facebook friends from Greenville, and I started adding them. Some stayed, some left. But as of today, we are at 1386 members.
Some members that still live in the area, like my co-administrator, Sandra Childers Duncan, have been meeting with locals about our history … or taking pictures in some of the most historic buildings in town and posting them for us all to see. We even get the latest information on the renovation of the Texan Theater from owner Barbara Horan.
It is a “closed” group, but all anyone that is on facebook that is interested needs to do is to go to
https://www.facebook.com/groups/raised.in.greenville/ and request to join and Sandra or I will certainly add you.
Sincerely,
Cato Meador
Leander

Vote for new Y
I write to support the YMCA bond election from a perspective of the role they provide in the health of our community. As a health care professional, I have long understood and supported the need and development of a comprehensive Health and Wellness Center which could serve not only as a fitness center and playground, but as a cornerstone for building and maintaining healthy bodies and lifestyles.

In support of new Y
