To the editor:
Very recently a longtime problem on our street was solved. A Greenville street department crew arrived and began work on the needed repair. The area to be repaired and the underground utilities had previously been clearly marked. The crew began work at once and demonstrated the knowledge needed for the most efficient and economical procedures. They were hard working but courteous to questing by interested onlookers. I was impressed by the timely and efficient use of the required motorized construction equipment. The project was successfully completed in a short time with a minimum of neighborhood inconvenience. My hope is that all departments are as efficient.

Vote for new Y
I write to support the YMCA bond election from a perspective of the role they provide in the health of our community. As a health care professional, I have long understood and supported the need and development of a comprehensive Health and Wellness Center which could serve not only as a fitness center and playground, but as a cornerstone for building and maintaining healthy bodies and lifestyles.

We would like to say we are in full agreement and support Randy Daw’s article in last Friday’s paper concerning the issue of homosexuality.

A number of Greenville citizens have asked if we can afford a new YMCA. After many years of being a part of the Y, I think the question is, can we afford not to build a new YMCA?

It has come to my attention that Tyson Cox has declined a candidate’s forum with Dan Perkins sponsored by GEUS. The forum was to be broadcast on their network.
