While journalism in general has become a much more diversified field over the past few decades, sports writing is still a male-dominated field with a strict set of rules that the 21st century has done little to change.
That’s not to say that there aren’t some pioneers in the field, and Greenville Christian School graduate Chelsea Byers is one such pioneer.
A sophomore at Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Ark., Byers will be taking over as the first female sports editor of The Signal, OBU’s student newspaper.
