ROYSE CITY — An apparent tornado has touched down near Royse City, downing power lines and causing extensive damage in the area.
A Herald-Banner reporter was unable to reach the damaged zone on State Highway 276. Police had blocked off the area.
According to the Hunt County Emergency Management coordinator, there are three homes extensively damaged on S.H. 276. "There was a lot more damage on the Rockwall County side," said Richard Hill, Hunt County's emergency management coordinator.
It will be tomorrow before the National Weather Service can confirm whether it was a tornado, but in Hill's opinion, there is no doubt it was a tornado.
No injuries have been reported in Hunt County in connection with the storm.
"We really dodged a bullet. We just lucked out," Hill said.
Details from Rockwall County were sketchy initially. Check back at RoyseCityHeraldBanner.com for updates.
